Definitions
- the invention relates to a fire detector with a scattered light system and an ionization system and a common evaluation electronics.
- Such a fire detector is known from brochure C 3001 6/84 from BRK Electronics and is intended to enable fires to be detected early without increasing the frequency of false alarms. This is based on the knowledge that ionization detectors respond preferentially to the presence of small aerosol particles, while scattered light detectors react early to the presence of large aerosol particles due to the high scatterability. In the known fire detector, however, the scattered light system and the ionization system are only accommodated in a common housing, but are otherwise completely separate from one another and therefore also have different air access openings. The detector therefore also has a comparatively large diameter and only one of its two systems has air access openings evenly distributed over its circumference and, accordingly, a response sensitivity that is largely independent of the direction of flow.
- the invention has for its object to provide a fire detector of the type specified, which is compact and whose detection systems both have a largely independent of the direction of flow sensitivity.
- the flow through the measuring volume of the scattered light system is not hindered by any of these measures.
- Direct flow through the reference chamber of the ionization system can be kept low by suitable shaping of the specimen holder in connection with short distances between the respective electrodes, possibly also by additional flow orifices.
- the influence of extraneous light can be achieved by the choice of the cone angle of the wall of the common chamber.
- the selected design principle allows the temperature to be used as a further detector criterion.
- This development is the subject of claim 5.
- the heat sensor mentioned there can be positioned exactly in the central axis of the detector, preferably above its chamber, and therefore has a sensitivity that is completely independent of the direction of flow.
- the contacting of the heat sensor with the evaluation electronics then common to all three systems, which is arranged below the common circular base plate, takes place in the simplest way through a hole in the plastic body.
- the fire detector shown in FIGS. 1 and 2 has a circular base plate 1, below which the evaluation electronics not of interest are arranged.
- This arrangement is enclosed by a housing 5, which also essentially has the shape of a truncated cone, the smaller base of which is closed by a cover plate 5a.
- the cover plate 5a is connected to the casing of the housing 5 via narrow webs 5b.
- the gaps between the webs 5b form air access openings 6 distributed over the circumference.
- a scattered light system, an ionization system and a heat sensor are arranged on the base plate 1.
- the scattered light system comprises a transmitter diode 7, which is arranged on a base 7a in a tube 7b. Approximately Opposite the transmitter diode 7 is a receiver diode 8, which is arranged in a corresponding manner on a base 8a in a tube 8b.
- the main axis 7c of the transmitting diode 7 and the main axis 8c of the receiving diode 8 are oriented to one another such that the intersection 9 lies outside the symmetry or center axis of the chamber or the base plate 1.
- a plastic body 10 is arranged between the transmitting diode 7 and the receiving diode 8, the surfaces of which facing the transmitting diode 7 and the receiving diode 8 are profiled in such a way that they act in a known manner as a light trap. Furthermore, the base plate 1, the chamber wall 2, the parts 7a, 7b, 8a, 8b and the plastic body 10 are kept black and matt. The angle of inclination of the chamber wall 2 with respect to the base plate 1 is chosen so that the smallest possible proportion of both the light emanating from the transmitter diode 7 and the extraneous light is reflected on the chamber wall 2 in the direction of the axis 8c of the receiver diode 8.
- the ionization system is located on the side of the plastic body 10 facing away from the axis intersection 9.
- the ionization system comprises a specimen holder 11 fastened to the plastic body 10 with a recess 11a in which a plate-shaped electrode 12 is arranged, which is opposite a wire-shaped electrode 13 at a short distance .
- the two chambers are not physically separate spaces but are formed by the (partially common) volumes in the area of the electrodes in question.
- the electrode 13 is the reference electrode of the reference chamber.
- the reference electrode of the measuring chamber is an extensive area from the parts or areas of the base plate 1 and the chamber wall 2 and the wire mesh 3 adjacent to the common electrode 12.
- the base plate 1 and the chamber wall 2 are made of a conductive plastic. The contacting of the electrodes mentioned with the evaluation electronics is not shown.
- a heat sensor 14 is arranged above the wire mesh 3 in the central axis of the chamber. It is connected to the evaluation electronics through a bore 10a in the plastic body 10.
- the flow guide ring 4 divides the air access cross section according to FIG. 1 into a lower and an upper half.
- the flow guide ring 4 has approximately the shape of a spherical cap ring (or that of the jacket of a cone with a very large cone angle).
- the flow guide ring has two recesses 4b on its outer peripheral edge 4a. These are used to hold light guide profile pieces (not shown) which can be arranged along the chamber wall 2 and which convey light signals which characterize the operating state of the detector from light-emitting diodes arranged on the base plate 1 and corresponding openings provided in the cover plate 5 of the housing (likewise not shown).
- the inner opening of the flow guide ring 4 is not circular in shape, but is approximately cushion-shaped, the projecting edges 4c delimiting narrow circle segments 4d. In the installed state of the flow guide ring 4, these circular segments 4d are located above the transmitter diode 7 and the receive diode 8. It has been shown that with this shape of the flow guide ring the sensitivity of both the scattered light system and the ionization system (the axially symmetrical heat sensor is anyway) not sensitive to direction) remains practically constant regardless of the direction of flow. It is assumed that this is due to the effect of the division of the air flow (entering through the openings 6) indicated by the flow threads 15 in FIG. 4.
- the respective measurement volumes are apparently evenly filled, even though they are spaced apart and covered by the plastic body 10 and the installation of the transmitter diode 7 and the receiver diode 8 for certain directions of flow.
Abstract
Description
- Fig. 1 eine teilweise im Schnitt gehaltene Seitenansicht
- Fig. 2 eine Aufsicht auf die Meldergrundplatte,
- Fig. 3 eine Aufsicht auf den Strömungsleitring und
